In an elevated position, yet only 300 yards from the town centre, the sea front and its clean sandy beaches, the hotel is an intriguing country house built in 1875 and constructed in Victorian "Scottish Baronial" style with extensive gardens. The original building includes a floor once laid in the House of Commons, a balustrade and columns from the old Billingsgate Market and more intriguing items both inside and out.

Purbeck is a great base from which to explore West Dorset with the fascinating world renowned Jurassic coastline, the first area of Britain to be granted World Heritage Status. Just a few minutes’ drive away is also the Sandbanks Ferry, allowing easy access to Studland Bay and Poole Harbour with its multitude of marine activities, and Bournemouth. Brownsea Island is also accessible by ferry.

Bedrooms are in the main house and in Louisa Lodge, a modern annexe; with sea view and superior rooms available. Purbeck caters for functions in The Garden Conservatory, The Hardy Room and The Purbeck Room along with conference’s/meetings. There are also large conference and function facilities.
