In an elevated position, yet only 300 yds from the town centre, the sea front, and its clean, sandy beaches, the hotel is an intriguing country house built in 1875 and constructed in Victorian baronial style with extensive gardens. The original building includes a floor once laid in the House of Commons, a balustrade and columns from the old Billingsgate Market and more intriguing items both inside and out. Bedrooms are both in the main house and in Louisa Lodge, a modern annexe with large function and conference facilities. Dining is either in the traditional Thomas Hardy Restaurant or in the large Garden Conservatory. Purbeck is a good base from which to explore West Dorset with its fascinating World Heritage Jurassic coastline. Just a few minutes' drive away is the Sandbanks Ferry, which allows easy access to Studland Bay and Poole Harbour with its multitude of nautical activities, and Bournemouth. The hotel is family run, with the emphasis on relaxation. Friendly and attentive service is on hand at all times.
