Once home to the Bishop of Exeter and built in 1841 in the Italianate style much favoured by the Victorians, this imposing, elegant peppermint green building has been a privately owned hotel since 1921. Magnificently situated in 25 acres of its own grounds, yet close to the bustling centre of Torquay. The hotel is blessed with a wealth of sporting facilities. Bedrooms are comfortably decorated with elegant bathrooms and some suites have fine balconies. The sitting areas are spacious and elegant, recently decorated in soft sand and burgundy colours. The impressive dining room has grand marbled panels and dining is international in flavour and accompanied by gentle piano music. Lighter meals are available in the lounges or in the summer on the terrace.
