The hotel was built in 1753 for the Dowager Countess Poulett and, prior to becoming an hotel in 1901, was the home of the Duc du Stackpole. It is located in beautiful gardens overlooking the famous Cobb and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Lyme Bay with direct access to the beach.
Many rooms have undergone recent refurbishment to a very high standard with great coastal or sea views.
The hotel offers dining in either the AA
Alexandra Restaurant or in the light and informal Conservatory Restaurant. With the two restaurants the hotel is able to offer private facilities for a wedding, dinner or lunch party, business seminar or meeting.
To sum up, a long standing hotel in a superb location, recently symathetically upgraded to offer high quality modern facilities whilst maintaining its high standard of personal service. This is the ideal coastal location, whatever reason one's reason to visit West Dorset.
