The Swan at Hay has recently been taken over by the charming Mackintosh family. What a transformation! The bistro bar has scrubbed tables, chairs and wall panelling with Parisian lithographs on the walls. An excellent range of snacks are available here and ales from the cask. Dinner or Sunday lunch can be taken in the airy Georgian-style restaurant  overlooking the garden. Bedrooms are being upgraded, but are traditional in style with every modern convenience including Internet access. Georgian elegance and beautiful gardens make The Swan a popular wedding venue. They can also cater for small and medium sized business meetings. Set on the glorious river Wye, Hay retains the charm of a late Georgian / early Victorian market town with boutique style shops and galleries, and of course the world famous Festival in May / June.
