Gliffaes Country House Hotel

A family owned hotel set in 33 acres of grounds planted with rare shrubs, offering tennis court, putting and golf practice net, croquet; Usk river reserved for salmon or wild brown trout fishing. There is a relaxing sitting room, drawing room opening onto a spacious sun room - and terrace, also approachable via the dining room AA  and refurbished bar. Light lunch dishes may be ordered from the bar and tea is best described as a trencherman's dream!. An extensive dinner menu uses only the freshest ingredients and is supported by a sensibly priced wine list. Bedrooms are priced according to size and views, all are characterful and en suite.

14/08/2009 (5 night stay): We were absolutely delighted by Gliffaes with its near perfect service in a beautiful setting. From breakfast through to dinner the food was exceptional. The ambience is quiet and understated. There was no fuss, just a quiet efficiency and thoughtful service second to nowhere. They got the details absolutely right. We were rather impressed.

18/12/2009 (3 night stay): Excellent location and attractive hotel in one of the most beautiful areas of Britain. Log fires in lounge area made a relaxing afternoon on a cold and wet day.
We certainly will make a return trip.
