Overbecks Museum & Garden

Overbecks is an elegant Edwardian house with diverse collections and a luxuriant garden. The scientist Otto Overbeck lived here from 1928 until 1937 and the museum containing his collection of curios and nautical artefacts has an intimate atmosphere. Some of Overbeck’s inventions are on show, including the intriguing ‘rejuvenator’ machine. The house is set in seven acres of beautiful exotic gardens with spectacular views over the Salcombe estuary. It enjoys a sheltered micro-climate and so is home to many rare plants. There is also a secret children’s room with dolls, tin soldiers, a ghost hunt and other toys.
