Lanhydrock
A beech avenue leads to this grandiose 17th century mansion, formerly the home of the Robartes family and now looked after by the National Trust. It was rebuilt in the Victorian style after a disastrous fire in 1881. There are more than 50 rooms on show which give a good insight into the 'upstairs/downstairs' life of those times.
Gardens surround the house on all sides and these range from Victorian parterres to the higher wooded garden with rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias. There is a plant sale shop and refreshment area.
House open 28 Feb-1 Nov daily exc Mons 11-5.30pm (March & Oct til 5pm). Garden open all year daily 10 - 6. Admission to house, garden & grounds: £10.40 (adult); £5.20 (child).
