Killerton

This spectacular hillside garden is beautiful throughout the year with spring flowering bulbs and shrubs, colourful herbaceous borders and fine trees. The garden is surrounded by parkland and woods offering lovely walks. The house, dating from 1778, was occupied by the Acland family for 150 years and  is furnished like a family home and includes a costume collection dating from the 18th century in a series of period rooms and a Victorian laundry. A new costume exhibition was opened in 2006: Shall We Dance? – frothy ball gowns, glittering evening clothes and gorgeous accessories from the Killerton costume collection.

Information by kind permission of Hudsons Historic Houses and Gardens. Open 25 Mar-31 Oct daily 11-5. Admission adult £7/child £3.50.
