American Museum, Claverdon, Bath
Claverton Manor was built in 1820. In the late 1950s it became the American Museum of Britain. Inside the manor there are 18 period rooms which show the development of American decorative arts from the 1680s to the 1860s. Thereare also galleries devoted to Folk Art, Native American Art and a large collection of quilts and other fabrics. The grounds contain a replica of part of the garden at Mount Vernon, George Washington’s house in Virginia, and an arboretum of American trees and shrubs.
