Westminster Abbey
The original abbey was built by Edward the Confessor in ca. 1050. The present building was built 13-16th centuries and the West Towers were designed by Wren and Hawksmoor in the 18th century. Rulers of England have been crowned here since 1066 and Scotland’s Stone of Scone sits beneath the Coronation Throne. Kings, queens, statesmen, soldiers, poets, priests and heroes are buried here, making the Abbey a living pageant of British history.
Open 0930-1630 Mon-Sat (usually). Admission: adult £12/concessions £9/family (2+2 or 1+3) £28.
