Tower of London

The Tower was started by William the Conqueror in 1066 and is one of the world’s oldest fortresses and Britain’s most visited historic monument. The Crown Jewels are housed here, guarded by the famous Beefeaters. Those deemed enemies of the state were brought through Traitor’s Gate for execution. 2009 has a special exhibition: Henry VIII – Dressed to Kill, featuring armour and weapons used during his tempestuous reign.
