Science Museum
The Science Museum in Exhibition Road opened in 1857 and gives a panorama of all branches of science through the ages. Discoveries and inventions, the Industrial Revolution, nutrition and the Space Age are described. Visitors can measure their own heartbeat, shake hands with themselves and star in their own special effects video. The museum includes Stephenson’s Rocket and the capsule that took three astronauts to the moon in 1969; also a Vickers Vimy aircraft, of the sort that made the first Transatlantic flight in 1919.
Open 10-6. Admission free.
