Petworth Park & House

Built in the 17th century by the Duke of Somerset. Petworth is set in a magnificent 700-acre park (open to the public free-of-charge), designed by Capability Brown and inspired by the painter Turner, who had a studio here. Many of his works and those of  Titian, Holbein, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Hals and Gainsborough can be seen in the house – a collection worthy of a London art gallery. Grinling Gibbons limwewood carvings are displayed in the Carved Room.
