Loseley Park
Loseley Park was built, with stone from the ruins of Waverley Abbey, in 1561 by Sir William More to entertain Queen Elizabeth I. A descendant lives there to this day. It has particularly fine ceilings and panelling. The Loseley Jersey Herd grazes the fine parkland, and their dairy products are sold on the premises. The walled garden, designed by Gertrude Jekyll, has over 1000 rose bushes, a vine walk, herb garden, organic vegetable garden and moat walk.
House open May-Aug, Tues-Thurs, Suns & BH Mons 1-5pm; gardens May-Sept 11-5. Admission: house & garden adult £8/child £4/concessions £5.50.
