Knole, Sevenoaks

Knole was built in the mid-15th century by the then Archbishop of Canterbury. It has been visited by kings and queens down the ages and in the 20th century was famous as being the home of Vita Sackville West. The 13 state rooms include Royal Stuart furniture and paintings by Reynolds, Van Dyck and Gainsborough as well as many 17th century tapestries. Around the house is the only remaining medieval deer park in South-East England with sika and fallow deer roaming freely.
