Kew Gardens
The Gardens were begun in 1759 by Princess Augusta, mother of George III. They are now a World Heritage Site, covering 300 acres and with more than 100,000 plant species, statues, glasshouses and an 18th century pagoda. Kew Palace and the nearby Queen Charlotte’s Cottage were built in 1770 as the smallest of King George III’s Royal residences. Kew Bridge Steam Museum features beam engines that pumped London’s water until 1944.
Gardens open daily 0930-1800 (earlier in winter). Admission gardens £13/concessions & disabled £12. Palace adult £5/conc. £4.50.
