Hardwick Hall

Built in the late 16th century for Bess of Hardwick, Countess of Shrewsbury, Hardwick Hall contains outstanding contemporary furniture, tapestries and needlework. An exhibition celebrates the art of Elizabethan needlework. There are fine orchards, gardens and herb gardens and the ruined Old Hall and Stainsby Mill – a working 19th century water mill - are in the grounds. The park is home to rare Whiteface Woodland sheep and Longhorn cattle.
