The home of the Cavendish family, now the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire, since 1550, Chatsworth is one of the UK’s grandest country houses, renowned equally for its interiors as its landscaped gardens and impressive 290ft jet Emperor Fountain and 500yd cascade, modelled on the Winter Palace at St Petersburg. Inside the 175 rooms display ancient Roman & Egyptian sculpture, masterpieces by Rembrandt, Veronese and Reynolds and also modern art by artists like Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.
