Melford Hall
Astride a Roman road sits the unspoiled village of Long Melford and its Hall, which is of Elizabethan origin. In fact the monarch took tea there in 1578. One room features paintings by Beatrix Potter, who was related to the Hyde Parker family. The Regency Library and Victorian bedrooms display good collections of furniture and porcelain. The park and gardens include a Banqueting House.
Open 4-19 Apr daily (exc Tues); 1 May-30 Sept Wed-Sun; 3 Oct-1 nov Sat/Sun only. All 1.30-5pm. Admission adult £6/child £3/family £15.
