The family owned Pheasant Hotel offers the warmest of Cumbrian welcomes in a tradition Inn that has stood the test of time for more than two centuries. Originally a Lakeland staging post and coaching inn, The Pheasant is now a unique hotel and restaurant that combines outstanding hospitality and local character with delicious food and an amazing setting where the woods meet the water and the fells meet Bassenthwaite Lake. The famous huntsman John Peel was a regular – he’d often celebrate and recount his exploits in the tap room, which is now the Hotel’s renowned bar, with antiques, exposed beams, real log fires. The Pheasant also offers a selection of comfortable bedrooms, all of which are individually furnished to a very high quality, some with a sitting area, excellent beds. All rooms have tea and coffee facilities.

This outstanding hotel provides a perfect base for exploring the Lake District, this was one of Alfred Wainwrights favourite area's as he said in his North Western Guide to the fells 'nothing pleased me more than the shy Wythop Valley. It is so easy to walk, so charming and unspoilt, a little tranquil world apart' Little has changed over the years, there are also plenty of historic places of interest to visit in the area include the 4000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Keswick museum and the wonderful Theatre on the Lake.

The Fells Restaurant has been awarded a red rosette from the AA and has fine view over the garden, Forest and Fells beyond & uses only the finest seasonal ingredients sourced locally. The Bistro and Bar caters for lighter and less formal dishes to suit all occasions and tastes. The Pheasant also offers a Private Dining option for up to 20 people, creating a private dinner party environment for your guests and a menu can be created with our Head Chef to suit any occasion.
