One of the most luxurious retreats on the Island of Skye, Toravaig, the island's boutique hotel, was bought in 2004 by Kenneth Gunn, for seven years Master of the MV Hebridean Princess. Ken and partner Anne Gracie have set about refurbishing it in contemporary style. Bedrooms are named after Hebridean Islands and guests are welcomed by a wee dram of Toravaig whisky. Each has satellite TV, CD players and modems. The kitchen brigade is headed up by chef Peter Woods. Fine wines and a good selection of malts enhance the dining experience in the candlelit Iona restaurant. This is a walker's paradise and the hotel also owns a yacht Solus , which can be hired for a day's cruising in some of the best waters of the world.
