The Pierhouse was formerly the home of the pier master, an important man in the days of the steamers and responsible for the loading and unloading of cargo. Today it is a small informal hotel with a reputation for serving excellent seafood. The 12 rooms are decorated in light, contemporary style, with a strong Scandinavian influence, natural colours and crisp white bed linen. The pretty island of Lismore can be seen from your loch-facing bedroom window, and is reached by a passenger ferry which leaves from the hotel's jetty. The hotel car park is the beach. Informality, location and excellent food are the keys. Adventure activities are part of the Pierhouse programme. The hotel has ten moorings, so that you can also arrive by sea. It is a quiet corner of the Appin peninsula but only 20 miles from Oban. The romantic Castle Stalker nearby can be visited.
