Situated at the southern end of Skye, the Sleat peninsula provides the ferry link to Mallaig from Armadale, near the hotel. Built as a hunting lodge for the Macdonald family in the 1860s, Duisdale sits in its own grounds of 30 acres. The terrace overlooking the gardens is a riot of colour with azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring - a delightful place for a drink or snack. The lodge sits high enough to get wonderful views over to the mainland and the mountains of Glenelg and Knoydart. The drawing room with its log fire and squishy sofa invites relaxation. Prime Scottish cooking is on offer in the dining room, with fresh herbs and vegetables from the hotel's own garden, and local fish and game featured on the menu. Most bedrooms have lovely views of the sea or the Cuilins and have been redecorated in a comfortable contemporary style, with a touch of tartan. Daily yachting trips can be arranged in the hotel's boat.
