The Griffin Inn has been named as the Sussex "County Dining Pub of the Year" in the 2008 Good Pub Guide for the second consecutive year. The Good Pub Guide has also selected The Griffin as one of the "10 Best Pubs in the Whole of Britain".
Text: The Pullan family were forerunners of what is now termed a 'gastropub' - comfortable rooms and good food in an informal setting. Bedrooms are divided into three units: Main House, above the shop, with sloping floors and quirky corners; the Coach House (1999) with four-poster beds and, since 2004 Griffin House, the next door property, which has been converted into five Fin de Siecle style luxury bedrooms, each named after a local family. Seven chefs produce a daily changing a la carte menu which can be served in the restaurant or, in the summer, in the garden with its superb views towards Sheffield Park. There is also a bar menu and a childrens' menu which can be taken in the Club Room, a family room, with sofas, TV and a relaxed atmosphere.
