This Grade II listed building nestles at the foot of the cliffs beneath the 13th century Strand Gate of Winchelsea. It was previously Winchelsea's Old Workhouse and Smugglers Haunt. Strand House takes you back in time with its oak beams and inglenook fireplaces. The ten guestrooms, full of character and atmosphere, are conducive to relaxation. A comfortable lounge adjoins the residents' bar and reception area, with doors leading out to the well laid out garden. Strand House is in the middle of 1066 country with Battle nearby, the 1288 Cinque Port of Winchelsea up the hill, the cobbled streets and antique shops of Rye next door and several exceptional houses and gardens to visit in the area.
