Pelham House is fairly unique! A quiet country house hotel in the centre of the bustling county town of Lewes. With 16th century origins, it was rebuilt in the 1800s and added to in the 1930s. Its Georgian spaciousness is preserved, with high ceilings and tall windows providing plenty of light. The 31 bedrooms blend the best of modern fittings and comfort with the original features. They have contemporary handmade furniture, data points, and large comfortable beds with crisp Irish linen. Most rooms overlook the pretty south-facing garden, with its original sculpture and views beyond to the South Downs. Intimate dining is provided in the morning room, or on the Terrace in the summer. Large parties or meetings can be accommodated in one of the large meeting rooms. The hotel is three minutes' walk from the mainline train station with fast trains taking just over an hour to London or 40 minutes to Gatwick.
