Ees Wyke lies above the still waters of Esthwaite, overlooking the beautiful scenic forest and fells of one of the least spoiled parts of the Lake District. Wordsworth described it as "That sweet valley; when its paths, its shores and its brooks were like a dream of novelty". It was once the holiday house of Beatrix Potter, who lived in the village. Richard and Margaret Lee greet you personally, show you to your room, then later invite you to choose from the five-course menu with choices. This perfect food is served overlooking the wonderful view. Most bedrooms have sweeping views of the surrounding hills as well as every modern convenicence. Ees Wyke is recommended by the Good Hotel Guide and the Good Food Guide. It is AA 5 star plus a breakfast award. There is walking locally or you can visit Hill Top - the nearby former home of Beatrix Potter. Either way you will not forget your stay.
