I came across this hotel almost by accident and it must be one of East Lancashire's best kept secrets. Built in the early 19th century, it has been transformed from a private mansion house used as an ICI training centre to a successful hotel. Set in six acres of attractive gardens and grounds, the house has an old world feel to it, with its wood panelling, period fireplaces, open fires and tasteful decor. The hotel is well situated for visiting the region's towns and the striking scenery of the Trough of Bowland. The Lancashire coast and the Lake District are not far away.
