Achanarras Quarry is a world famous for its fossil fish, once contained in a very large lake that covered the area 380 million years ago. Alternatively, for those who prefer fresher fish, the river Spey is widely recognised as one of Scotland's best salmon rivers, attracting anglers from all over the world.

Some Hotels in the Highland Region of Scotland are closed for part of the year. Where we have that information, we have included it. We have divided The Highland Region into three parts: the Northern Highlands - Caithness, Sutherland, Orkneys & Outer Hebrides; the Inverness area and the Southern Highlands, Fort William & Skye.
