Greywalls Hotel, Gullane, Edinburgh
This sometime holiday home, created by Lutyens in 1901, complemented by a beautiful walled garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll, is the sole survivor of his work in Scotland. Family owned Greywalls retains the atmosphere of a private house, which shows in the spacious, airy bedrooms, and the wood panelled library with its open fire.
