The county of Conwy encompasses Llandudno, Conwy and Colwyn
Bay. These are traditional resort towns, each with different
characteristics. Llandudno has a wide promenade, pier and two beaches. Also
a theatre, designer shops and pubs, and a Museum including Roman
artefacts.
Conwy Castle was built by Edward I between 1283 and 1292 and
the town’s battlements are well preserved today, along
with 200 other listed buildings. Behind the town is Synchant
Pass and spectacular walking country.
Colwyn Bay, including Rhos-on-Sea has three miles of sandy
beach, a Leisure Centre and Dinosaur World. Up the river Conwy valley (via A470) is Bodnant, a garden known
for its Italianate terraces, lawns, lily ponds, shrubs and trees.
There are stunning views of Snowdonia from its terraces. |
