Hotels in Berkshire
East Berkshire is just 30 minutes from London and the hotels there cater for fine dining and conferences. Mid-Berkshire has county town and administrative centre Reading at its centre. West Berkshire begins at Newbury and has several country house hotels in impressive locations. Although much of Berkshire serves as commuter-land for London, it has areas of great beauty, notably in the Chiltern Hills and along the Thames Valley.
Burnham Beeches are the remains of an ancient forest and now covers 600 acres. Windsor Great Park was a royal hunting forest and still offers great walking country and polo most summer weekends, with Savill Garden at its south-east corner. Our Berkshire hotels offer great bases for exploring some of these attractions.
Windsor Castle, established by William the Conqueror to protect London from the west, is England’s largest. The State Apartments were built by Edward III in the 14th century, and added to by Charles II and George IV. Most have now been re-opened after the fire of 1992. The Castle is Her Majesty the Queen’s southern residence. Nearby is Eton College, founded in 1400.
Whatever your reason for visiting the county, our selection of premier Berkshire hotels should help ensure your stay a pleasant one.
