Motoring conditions may have changed ever since the founder of Signpost first took to the road, but inspectors' standards are still the same: individual style, value for money, friendly service and a personal welcome. How we select hotels
In considering candidates for inclusion in the Signpost hotel guide our inspectors look for hotels with a distinctive ambience - places that they have enjoyed staying at themselves and which provide the ideal venue for weekend or longer hotel breaks. That's why you will not find any run-of-the mill hotels in this guide, or hotels which are just part of a large national chain.
Our standards
Our inspectors set the highest standards and expect every one of our luxury hotels in the UK to live up to them. We demand fine cuisine, using the best fresh produce. Bedrooms should be furnished with style and have all the comforts you need away from home. The hotel should be located in an interesting area, with plenty of opportunity for sport and leisure. Above all hotels should be welcoming, places you want to return to again and again.
