The Lordleaze Hotel & Restaurant
Finding this country hotel in Chard would be a challenge, were it not very well Signposted through a series of twists and turns towards the lushly verdant outskirts of Chard.
Principally an 18th century longhouse with a more recent wing added, Lordleaze offers cosiness and unfussy conviviality coupled with contemporary efficiency. The Owen family ensure that guests are warmly welcomed; fed with generosity and flair from locally sourced and freshly cooked ingredients served in the canopied conservatory and adjacent dining room.
Relax on the terrace overlooking a well tended garden towards farmland beyond. Lordleaze is a peaceful, friendly and comfortable hotel conveniently located at the convergence of the counties of Dorset, Somerset and Devon. Bristol, Exeter, Taunton and Yeovil are within a comfortable drive, as are the Fleet Air Arm, Haynes Motor Museum, Forde Abbey and many historic houses and gardens. But don't miss Chard's own museum with its display of John Stringfellow's first powered aeroplane.

August 2011 : I can't fault this hotel. The accommodation and customer service we had was second to none. My daughter and I were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
