Soulton Hall

16 generations of the Ashton family have cherished this ancient Shropshire manor house, set in 500 acres of private country estate and woodland as John and Ann Ashton, and son Tim do today.

Guest here are treated like members of the family. Drinks are taken in the cosy drawing room, whilst making a choice from the four-course menu. This is served in the elegant candle-lit dining room, using local ingredients including game from the estate and fruit from the garden. Rooms in Soulton Hall boast wood panelling and mullion windows whilst further ground floor accommodation is available in the Carriage House and Cedar House.

The 18th century Soulton Court (across the lawn) also now provides a unique setting for weddings and conferences. Soulton, with its walled gardens and extensive grounds, is a peaceful spot in which to just relax. It is a working farm and also an excellent base from which to explore the beauties of the Shires and the Welsh Marches, as well as the Ironbridge Gorge and the cities of Shrewsbury and Chester.

The Welsh Hills and border castles are also within easy reach. Soulton is one of the best kept secrets of Shropshire.

You are welcome to bring your pet to the hotel, for a fee of £10.

Hotel reviews

November 2011 : We stayed at Soulton Hall in early November and were thoroughly impressed with our visit. We arrived (very) late at 1145 pm on a Thursday night, and we were encouraged to find that the proprietor was still awake and incredibly welcoming at such a late hour despite the inconvenience. A quick drink by the fireplace made the long drive fade away very quickly.

October 2011 : My wife and I were lucky enough to have our wedding at Soulton Hall just a couple ofweeks ago, 15th October. We organized an informal dinner for close friends and family the night before our big day. Ann and the team were totally sympathetic to our needs and said they would do whatever we wanted with regards to food….
