The Sportsman's Arms Hotel & Restaurant
The Sportsman's Arms Hotel and Restaurant nestles close to the river Nidd (on which it has fishing rights) at Wath in Nidderdale - a conservation village, and one of the most picturesque and unspoiled villages in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales.
Reached by a pack horse bridge and set in its own gardens, this attractive 17th century mellow sandstone building attracts you like a magnet. Once inside, the cosy lounges, log fires, bar and charming, softly lit restaurant exude warmth and this and the welcome and hospitality of owners Jane and Ray Carter will remain with you throughout your stay.
The local reputation for the Sportman's Arms is that it is a first class restaurant with bedrooms. However this is not fair to the bedrooms which are comfortable and tastefully decorated, retaining many original features.
At the heart of the Sportsman's Arms, however, is the restaurant and the first class food and wine on offer. Working with the best fresh local game, fish and vegetables, this Yorkshire Dales Inn provides a veritable feast for its guests.

Hotel reviews
December 2011 : Last June I reviewed this place after enjoying a family weekend. I gave it a really good write up and I'm delighted to say that this weekend was every bit as good. The rooms are excellent: mine appeared to have had a recent makeover as the bath etc looked brand new. Wonderful shower! The staff are very obliging….
October 2011 : The Sportsman's Arms is a privately owned & run, albeit slightly quirky "Yorkshire" country hotel, and this comes through, not being your twee chain hotel norm, which for us was part of the enjoyment & attraction. The Hotel and Staff went out of their way to be helpful & accommodating with a very friendly and genuine manner, making the weekend very relaxing, and a great success.
November 2011 : The scenery as you travel down the lanes to the hotel is breathtaking! On arrival we could not find the Reception Area. We knocked on the kitchen door, were warmly greeted and taken to our pleasant rooms. The lounge is lovely, cosy and 'olde worlde' with lots of comfortable chairs and sofas. We dined in the Restaurant. The Menu was good and varied with a good choice of wines on the Wine List.
