Cockliffe Country House Hotel

Dane and Jane Clarke converted this 17th century manor house into a luxurious contemporarily furnished country house hotel some 16 years ago.

Shapes of some of the rooms are unusual, reflecting the contours of the original building. Baths have spas and some have restored lion's feet tubs. There are fresh flowers and tempting chocolates in each room. Most overlook the quiet lawns and gardens, a few overlooking the neighbouring farm.

Dinner is chosen at the cosy bar and enjoyed in the AA Rosette intimate dining room. There is a choice of six dishes per course and the cuisine, under the supervision of chef David Brown, is imaginative. Breakfast is equally good, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon being a speciality.

A barn extension has recently been converted into a beamed conference suite, suitable for weddings, conferences or private dining. The whole effect provides a relaxing alternative to staying in central Nottingham.

Hotel reviews

June 2011 : Have stayed here several times, each time in a different room. Nos 1 & 2 on the front are probably the best, no 1 with a large bathroom, but the smaller rooms are stylish and fine, particularly for a single person stay. Food and service have improved vastly over the years. Bit of a noise from the nearby farmyard some mornings, and approach drive not great – beware sleeping policemen, but in principle, by far the nicest and most individual place to stay in Nottingham.

November 2011 : I’m a return customer to the Cockliffe, and when I was working in the area, was pleased to be able to secure a room – the staff are fantastic, service is friendly and of a high standard and the food & accommodation was first rate. I know where I’ll be staying when I’m next in town.
