Anchor Inn
The Anchor Inn lies on the river Wey near Alton, in stunning Hampshire countryside, yet less than one hour from London. Millers Collection (with sister inns at East Garston and Longstock) has recently converted the Inn, retaining original features, yet adding soft, period furnishings to give the feel of a bygone era.
All double rooms and suites are filled with books and photographs of great English men and women who have made a lasting impression and still impact our lives today. They come with en suite power showers, luxurious beds, pillows and duvets, flat screen TVs with DVD, WIFI connectivity and writing areas. Cuisine is superior English traditional pub fare, using local ingredients where possible and reflecting the seasons.
Starter might be brown crab pate, followed by Pork 'Five Ways'. There are three dining areas: the Snug, the Saloon and the main dining room. The Inn can arrange fly fishing on a number of nearby chalk stream rivers, game or clay shooting and welcomes huntsmen and walkers.

Hotel reviews
September 2011 : My partner and I got married at the Anchor Inn. We also had our wedding breakfast and evening reception there too. The day could not have been more perfect. The setting is gorgeous and the staff were lovely.
August 2011 : All in all a great place to either go for a meal or to get away for a weekend. I'd like to be able to give it 4.5 stars but I'll sway to 5.
July 2011 : The owner should be very proud of their staff. Throughout my evening I was served with professionalism, humour, good manners and care; and not a soul over 25. The breakfast – Historic! I’ll be back.
