Tir y Coed Country House

Alan and Ian acquired Tir Y Coed some six years ago and have transformed it into some of the most stylish accommodation in North Wales.

The seven bedrooms, one on the ground floor, are of different shapes and sizes to fit in with the contours of the house, which was built as a Gentleman's Residence in 1896. Each is immaculately furnished with crisp white linen, duck down duvets and luxurious fabrics.  Ian the chef, produces a daily changing menu which might start with home made soup, continue with Black beef, Welsh lamb or Llanwrst pork and finish with a mango and coconut cheesecake, special vegetarian or gluten free diets are available.  The residents' drawing room, furnished with many books, overlooks the very private garden, which also has strategically placed benches.

Rowen is a picture postcard village just within the Snowdonia National Park. Just four miles away is the coast and World Heritage Site town of Conwy, with its majestic castle, perhaps the best preserved of all the castles built by Edward I in North Wales. Bodnant Gardens and Llandudno, with its beaches, shops and theatre, are nearby.

The house can be rented in its entirety.

Hotel reviews

June 2011 : Stayed one night in June and was very well looked after. Was given a large room on the first floor, overlooking the pretty garden. You have to order your dinner ahead, but it was promptly served by co-host Alan, while Ian was ‘creating’ in the kitchen. Good walk through the village, but beware of striking out over the fields in a shortcut - bulls around!

July 2011 : Outstandingly run by the two owners dedicated to making their guests’ stay as comfortable, enjoyable and memorable as possible. Though quite expensive, the stay was unforgettable and we will probably return.

May 2011 : A little gem…Both the quality of the country house and its location are superb. Ian and Alan are the most welcoming of hosts and were very helpful with their advice and information on the local area. We especially enjoyed the dining experience.
