Trefeddian Hotel

The Trefeddian Hotel stands in a commanding position overlooking Cardigan Bay, one mile west of Aberdovey, a village with many attractions and fast becoming a centre for many outdoor activities.

The Cave-Brown-Cave family own and run this first class family hotel, celebrating 110 years in 2014. They are constantly making improvements, with a major refurbishment of the swimming pool planned for completion in early 2014, to include a new spa bath.

The lounges are spacious, light and peaceful and have also been refurbished. The bedrooms, most with views of Cardigan Bay, are comfortable and elegantly decorated. The five-course dinner menu changes daily and offers a good choice of well presented traditional English-French cuisine, using an abundance of local produce and complemented by a well chosen wine list, with a good range of half bottles.

The Trefeddian faces a four-mile stretch of sandy beach and is ideally located for beach strolls, playing golf, walking in the hills or rambling by lakes, rivers and waterfalls. The hotel has a beauty salon and indoor heated pool for guests. The courtesy and efficiency of the staff create a welcoming atmosphere that sees many guests returning year after year.

The Trefeddian is open all year except Christmas.

Hotel reviews

June 2010 : Well looked after on a hot, humid June night. Great walks form the hotel along the beach, golf course and up and round the hills behind the building. Very efficiently served six-course dinner. Impresive, considering there were some 100 diners. Room with beach view OK but not as smart as the top floor rooms/suites.

December 2011 : Parts of this hotel are a little old fashioned but it is spotlessly clean with warm friendly staff who go out of their way to help and always with a smile. The food isgood with a very comprehensive menu and the service is first class. The breakfast menu is exceptional with a wide choice of cereals, fresh fruit and juices.

August 2011 : I’ve been visiting for over 40 years and once again had an excellent stay…I first visited this hotel at pre-school age – I remember the days when the Games Room was a badminton court with a rocking horse and a piano in the corner. We return every year with a family group ranging over there generations and use the two multistory terraced houses at the end of the drive as well as the hotel bedrooms.
