Newbridge on Usk
Restaurant with Rooms or Country Inn? In essence, both. The Newbridge is literally ON the Usk, by an old drovers' bridge and with three miles of fishing rights on the river.
It has six contemporarily furnished rooms with oak and teak furniture and soft-on-the-feet oak floors. Bathrooms have roll top baths and Tuscan style marble and limestone tiles.
The AA rosette Restaurant is on two levels and serves wholesome country classic dishes based on fresh, locally sourced produce, presented with a modern twist, such as Swansea Bay mussels, woodland pork belly or Usk Valley beef.
The Newbridge is the younger sister of the Celtic Manor resort nearby, where the Ryder Cup was held in 2010 and whose spa and health club are available to Newbridge guests. What could be better than arriving late on a summer Sunday night for a week's work in the Newport area, than to find a filled ice bucket in your room and a large bath to soak in? August 2011 : A wonderful location for a romantic retreat. Aside from the fact that you have use of the Celtic Manor’s fabulous facilities, the accommodation and welcome at the Newbridge on Usk was simply wonderful. The room was decorated in a very thoughtful way, and was clean and comfortable.

January 2011 : The Newbridge on Usk is in a really lovely location and offers excellent personalized service. Dinner was superb! Additionally the write-up on the location was ‘spot-on’ and the directions easy to follow. The fact that you get free entrance to the Celtic Manor Resort is a bonus.
