The Lake Country House and Spa
This welcoming Welsh country house is set in its own 50 acres, with rhododendrons, riverside walks and a well stocked trout lake. The grounds are a haven for wildlife, with herons, kingfishers, swans, badgers and waterfowl regularly spotted by guests.
Overlooking these lovely surroundings, the hotel rooms are filled with antiques, paintings and fresh flowers. The new suites, overlooking the spa and lake, are particularly comfortable.
Guests can fish for trout or salmon on four miles of the river Irfon or on the hotel’s lake.
The new spa is a haven of luxury and relaxation, with a 50ft indoor pool, fully equipped gym, sauna and hot tub. Qualified therapists offer a range of health and beauty treatments.
There is a 9-hole golf course in the grounds, and a tennis court.
A delicious afternoon tea trolley is on offer. Attractions in the area include the Black Mountains and several historic castles.

Hotel reviews
October 2011 : Comfortable stay. All I can say is ‘what a shame I only had one night’ as I was travelling through on business. The staff could not have been more friendly and were extremely professional.

July 2011 : The Lake Country House is situated in a lovely peaceful spot with its own gardens, lakes and river. The Spa was nice, being a comparatively new development. We stayed in the Lodge – the rooms were clean, spacious and tidy.

June 2011 : Stunning hotel with superb service. I took my partner there for a surprise overnight break. The hotel is exceptional – we half expected Poirot to pop into the drawing room! They must have the most sensational chef as the food was absolutely perfect – creative, imaginative and well presented.
