Kilfinan Hotel
The coaching inn at Kilfinan has welcomed visitors since the 1760s. The Cowal peninsula is a world of its own, only two and a half hours from Glasgow and just over the hill from the bustling village of Tighnabruaich. The area is full of ancient historic sites and walks can turn into fascinating hunts for cup and ringmarked stones, chambered cairns and the remains of early Christian chapels. The charming whitewashed village church lies over the wall, burial ground of Clan Lamont.
Andrew and Helen will welcome you with simple but delicious food. Breakfasts are excellent and the décor is in keeping with the timelessness of the area. Once visited, it will be difficult not to return to the hospitality of the owners and the feeling that nothing is too much trouble.
Bedrooms are well equipped with soft throws on the beds, crisp white linen and gorgeous views towards Loch Fyne and the Mull of Kintyre.
The sunsets are amazing. Best approach is from Tignabruaich or from Glendaruel to the east. Single track roads through stunning scenery, but worth every mile once you get there. Take the little ferry from Portavadie over to Tarbert and the Kintyre peninsula is yours to explore.

Hotel reviews
15/04/2009 (5 night stay): Can't believe there's still somewhere like this hotel in the hustle and bustle of modern life. Totally chills-vill, kids didn't want to leave. I didn't want to leave. Owners Helen and Andrew very friendly, great reception. Would I stay again? Definitely yes!

18/06/2009 (3 night stay): I followed the reviews of others who gave this hotel a 100% rating. I have to say I was not disappointed. The welcome was terrific, the food and the atmosphere made for a very happy short stay. If you like some very peaceful surroundings then this is it.

25/09/2009 (2 night stay): The hotel was lovely, the room fresh, cosy and tastfully done up, the location was beautiful with lovely views and walks from the hotel. Special mention must go to the people running the hotel who could not have been more helpful or friendly.
