Forss House Hotel
Forss House Hotel is a unique establishment just five miles west of Thurso, facing the Orkney Islands, in an unspoiled corner of Scotland. There are splendid walks from the hotel down to the beach, diverse wildlife is all around and there are several James Braid-designed links courses for the golfer in the area.
The late Queen Mother's Castle of Mey is nearby. The AA Restaurant serves seasonal produce straight from the rivers, coastline and estates that surround the hotel. After dinner guests can choose from one of 400 malt whiskies.
Bedrooms are well decorated and luxurious with modern bathrooms, most with DVD/CD players and Freeview TV. Eight are in the main house and six are in the adjacent Fishing Lodge and River House. One of the finest hotels north of Inverness, Forss House is a destination in itself or a stopping off point for business or leisure travellers en route to John O'Groats or the Orkneys & Shetlands.

Hotel reviews
May 2011 : We have stayed twice now at Forss House and hope to go back. The first time in the main house and the second in the equally comfortable Fast Eddie ground floor room in the River House. Dinner is ordered informally in the bar and then you go through to the dining room to sample good Scottish game and fish. Manager Anne Mackenzie is an absolute gem, having been at the hotel for 20 years and will tell you all about local attractions.

October 2011 : The owner lady is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and beautiful. We will stay again, because this is what Scottish friendliness means. The diner was very great
September 2011 : We only had one free night to stay there in a busy work schedule in the north - and it was just what we needed. Warm welcome, very comfortable room and excellent food. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing.
