Skeabost Country House Hotel

Skeabost is a luxurious country house hotel located in private grounds on the edge of Loch Snizort, near Portree in the centre of the magical Island of Skye. Originally built as a hunting lodge by the MacDonalds, it has been the home of the Macleods, who also used to own Dunvegan Castle.

The interior is luxuriously furnished and includes eight exquisitely designed suites with sumptuous fabrics. The hotel's challenging 9-hole golf course weaves its way through lochside gardens and fishing enthusiasts will be able to cast over the hotel's 8-mile private salmon and trout beat. A ghillie is available.

Fine dining is available in the panelled dining room. A lighter dining option is available in the Conservatory Bistro, which specialises in fresh local fare. The cocktail bar boasts a good selection of Malt Whiskies, to round off a day's sightseeing or sporting activity.

Hotel reviews

November 2011 : We booked in at the Skeabost Hotel for 2 nights DBB. 1st and 2nd November. When we arrived at the hotel there was a cheery welcome in reception for us and we were advised that our room had been upgraded to a huge four poster bed. It was cosy and the ensuite was huge with bath / shower. Everything was spotless. I found the staff very friendly, helpful and approachable. I loved this cosy old hotel and look forward to going back for another relaxing and fun break.
November 2011 : We had a fantastic room with four poster bed and large en suite bathroom, with roll top bath and shower. The room was clean and comfy; loved it. The food was absolutely fantastic and ranks among some of the best we had in Scotland. The hotel is very well located, with a nine-hole golf course, nice grounds, good walks around the hotel and plenty of peace and quiet. We shall definitely be back again.
November 2011 : A nearly excellent venue and I'm sure it will get there. One of the most picturesque spots for a hotel, next to the loch and the nine-hole golf course. Friendly staff and beautiful large rooms to enjoy a drink with friends and family.
