The Britannia Inn
This traditional 500 year old Lakeland inn with rooms can be found nestling in the picturesque village of Elterwater in the heart of the Langdale valley, perfectly located for a choice of walks ranging from a light stroll to high level fell walking. Wordsworth's Grasmere, Hawkshead, Coniston, Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and the infamous Striding Edge are all a short drive from the hotel.
There is a choice of nine comfortable rooms, all recently refubished with every modern comfort. 360 degree views are available on the hotel's web site. It is worth remembering that, although the rooms are adequate, the Inn is 500 years old and consequently they are not over large.
The Inn provides an eclectic dining experience from popular favourites to the more unusual. Wherever possible, local, seasonal, produce is used to provide freshly prepared meals with daily changing chef's specials. The two cosy bars provide an inviting atmosphere in which to relax and savour the fine selection of ales and wines. A large selection of resident beers include Coniston, Bluebird, Langdale Tup and 'Britannia Special' with guest ales that change after every barrel.
The Britania continues to offer a sanctuary from hectic life with food and ales to satisfy all who stay.

Hotel reviews
12/12/2011 : A wonderful pub where we went for dinner and like it so much that we planned a walking trip to it the following day as we could have a nice lunch there! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was really delicious, both dinner and lunch, proper hearty (big portioned) pub food! We'll definitely be returning here in the summer when we make our next trip to the Lakes!
22/10/2011 : A lovely old inn; excellent food - large portions! Staff very friendly. But its very wise to book for dinner in advance as this inn is very popular!
02/10/2011 : Absolutely superb pub, really friendly helpful staff, very dog friendly. Beer is excellent. It's how pubs should be.
