Rothay Manor Hotel

Rothay Manor is a fine venue in which to enjoy good food, wine and tranquillity. The hotel has been voted top of the list by a publication on hotel breakfasts, and the excellence of the lunches and dinners complements the sumptuous surroundings. Antiques and fresh flowers are abundant, and the feeling of warmth and well-being are everywhere. The whole ambience is orchestrated by Nigel and Gwyneth Nixon and the reputation that they have gained for all round excellence is more than justifiably deserved.

Children are welcome with family rooms and suites available and high chairs, cots and childrens' high tea provided. One ground floor bedroom and one suite have been adapted to be accessible for wheelchair users. It seems unnecessary to add that the surrounding mountains, lakes and the air of the Lake District, make a superb backdrop in which to enjoy your stay here.

From October to May the hotel organises holidays on such themes as music, antiques, painting, walking and gardening.

Rothay Manor was a finalist for both 'Small Hotel of the Year' and 'Access For All' in the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2010

Hotel reviews

22/04/2009 (3 night stay): One of the best (& certainly the cleanest) hotels that I have stayed in. Family owned and independent they could certainly teach the big hotel chains (even the luxury ones) a thing or two. I can't understand why it is only 3 stars - vastly superior to any 3 star hotels I've visited before.
Review by John Millington
09/12/2011 : We were told on arrival that we had been upgraded to a superior room. Very nice touch. Staff all very friendly and helpful but keeping a professional approach. Nothing was too much trouble. Food fantastic, could not fault in any way. We booked on a deal of £298 for 2 nights DB&B and spent another £76 on drinks etc. - we like our wine! Would certainly recommend.
08/12/2011 : This was our second stay at the hotel, on both occasions we were greeted by friendly staff. The cleanliness and quality of the rooms were excellent. We had balcony rooms that were very spacious and well decorated. The breakfast and evening meals were exceptional, again the staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Can't wait to go again.
