Borrowdale Gates Country House Hotel
Originally a private residence situated on the edge of the historic hamlet of Grange, Borrowdale Gates maintains the lovely homely atmosphere of a genuine country house, where the cares of the world just ebb away. Location is sublime. Set in two acres of wooded gardens, with a back drop of high, rising fells, close to the shores of Derwentwater, the hotel offers seclusion without remoteness. The lounges are an ideal place to read, chat or take tea, maybe sampling the hotel's home-made cakes. Most bedrooms have views of either the Borrowdale Valley or of the Fells.
Guests can also relax in the gardens with views of the impressive Castle Crag, Jaws of Borrowdale and with majestic Lake District scenery all around.

15/06/2009 (4 night stay): A stunning setting for a comfortable and welcoming hotel with the personal touch. Our room opened out onto the garden with open fields and stunning views beyond. The view from the restaurant of Castle Crag was particularly stunning with additional entertainment provided by the many and varied birds attracted to the bird feeders in the foregound. The food lived up to the setting adding up to a very enjoyable stay.

06/08/2009 (3 night stay): We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this hotel. The hotel setting is delightful, the room was comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished. What made our stay particularly memorable was the welcome, the staff are friendly and attentive with every effort made to make us feel at home.
