Linthwaite House is magically set in over 14 acres of beautiful grounds with great views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding mountains and yet is only 20 miles from the motorway. The terrace faces West, ideal for pre-dinner G & Ts. In the grounds are gentle walks, abundant wildlife, a beautiful tarn (in which 5 lb trout have been caught), strategically located seats, and, for the really active, a putting/croquet lawn!
Inside the house has been completely refurbished and is designed for relaxation, with a Raffles meets Ralph Lauren style. One of the rooms is a magnificent 56 sq m Loft Suite with free standing Italian bath, glass roof for star gazing with telescope and state of the art Bose sound system. Winner of several awards, the service is unstuffy, yet professional.
Friendly and welcoming, like the real fire that burns in cooler weather, the staff appear from nowhere to anticipate guests' every need. The AA **** (Inspector's Choice) rosette restaurant serves the best of locally sourced produce. Near to Linthwaite, guests can visit the bustling lakeside village of Bowness, Beatrix Potter's home Hilltop and Wordsworth's Dove Cottage.

16/12/2011 : The hotel is wonderful, we arrived to a roaring fire in the reception area. We were shown to our room where the staff had set up roses, champagne, a Linthwaite Teddy and chocolates. The room was lovely - superbly decorated, comfy king size bed, underfloor heating, all the amenities you would need and an excellent shower!! All in all, Linthwaite was the perfect location for a romantic getaway. We are now already considering it as the location for our wedding. Cannot wait to return!
11/12/2011 : We have just been for the fourth time. Everything gets better each time we come. The slightest problem and the staff sort it out. Food superb. Unfortunately weather was not brilliant but that is not the fault of the hotel!! Room Tip: All rooms are good. Not going to mention my favourite otherwise we won't be able to get in again.
07/12/2011 : Arrived Friday evening in the rain- glowing fire and reception and then for us a perfect meal. Quail/foix gras black pudding then partridge and local cheeses- Having generations of family in the business the attention to detail and service was 100%. Location unbeatable. Wines- huge choice-you do not need to go for the dearest! Overall one of the best weekends ever. I am not a hotelier etc-GP-Cheshire!
